Mission Statement

Savannah Actor's Theatre brings realization to artistic passions. We are walking the boundaries of theatrical arts and mixed media, sending reports from the edge. Our work is guttural, cerebral, and readily available. It lifts living, breathing theatre to stand again as a source of inspiration and camaraderie in our community. As an ensemble of explorers, we dream with you so you don't have to dream alone.

Hopes and Dreams

We want to produce new theatre, classical theatre, and theatre written by local artists. We will have a high quality product, and will focus on the process of creating productions pieced together by a group of people to perform for this community. We want to do cutting-edge theatre and we want to foster and develop a deep love for the theatre in our community. We will advertise like crazy, not only for our non-profit organization, but also for other local theatres to create a tightly-knit theatre
community within the Southeast.

Eventually we want to hold workshops for high-school and college students, training them in all aspects of theatre - performance and technical. As we hire staff (or take on interns) they will be expected to be able to perform all jobs and positions that are necessary to put up a show. Each member of the company will be able to design and operate lights and sound, be able to design and build innovative sets and costumes, be able to perform on and off stage with a high energy attitude, and will contribute to the educating of the community by offering workshops, Q & A sessions, open rehearsals and simply be a walking advertisement for the wonders theatre can do for an individual and a community. In the future we want to bring theatre into the schools and have educational workshops for teachers and students of the theatre arts in the local schools.
